On The Road with Third Grade
This year each grade is exploring the printing process in one form or another. From handprints to simple one-color foam relief prints to more complicated three and four color designs, the results have been awesome! Below are some prints the Third graders made recently. We really liked the texture printing with bubble wrap gave the backgrounds!

Second Grade: Where the Action Is!
Since the Second graders have been learning about verbs, I thought it would be fun to give their study a little artistic spin! First, the children used pipe cleaners to make a poseable manniquin complete with beaded joints. We dscussed how verbs show action, and then the children had fun posing their manniquins. Finally, they referred to their manniquins as each child drew a picture of a person in action. Here are a few of their great drawings.

Draw with an EYEDROPPER?
Sometimes artists use commonplace items in not so common ways. Such was the case recently when our Fifth graders drew portraits with EYEDROPPERS and India ink! Once the drawings were dry, they carefully used brushes to add bursts of watercolor. And yes, they are SUPPOSED to have elongated necks since we were painting in the style of Modigliani!

Now check out the beautiful portraits below!
Didn't they do a fabulous job?
