Mavis, Measurement, and Mini Posters?

So when we aren't making art, we are busy in the Computer Lab! Exactly what are we doing? Sometimes we practice touch typing with the Mavis Beacon program or math skills on www.fun4the brain.com or www.starfall.com. Lately, the fourth through graders have also been making some really cool Word documents.

More Georgia...

Our study of Georgia O'Keeffe has inspired my students to make so many beautiful artworks that I just had to share some more of them!

Time is Running Out!

If you haven't had a chance to visit Ron Koehler's art show at Fielding Wright Art gallery on the DSU, time is running out! This beautiful Exhibit closes September 21 and you don't want to miss it!

PDS boys and girls, can you find the prints with hidden faces?

Art Room APB

Wanted: Assorted OLD Paint-laden Bristled Brushes

I have a project in mind but we will need about 30 old, dried up, worn out paintbrushes. You know, the kind you used to paint window trim or maybe a piece of furniture and forgot to clean. The yuckier, the better! Please send any brushes you'd like to donate to school with your child. I'll have a collection box near the office.

Thanks for your help!

Georgia On Our Minds

Can you guess who our first featured artist for this year is? Hint: she was an American artist best known for her paintings of magnified flowers, old animal bones and desert landscapes. Thanks to PDS friends, the Leininger family, for sharing their deer skulls for this project! Stay tuned for photos of some of the children's artwork!

Eagles' Flight Fun

School may have been out for summer, but that didn't stop Riley, a few of her friends and I from enjoying the Eagles' Flight Pottery Workshop!

The girls learned basic pottery construction techniques, while making several sweet keepsakes. Thank you, Riley and family for supporting our school through the Eagles' Flight!

Many Many Thanks!

Thanks to the Crosstie Arts Council for the generous grant awarded to PDS! Our sixth graders painted these beautiful crosses! Not only did they have a wonderful art experience, but they have a lasting reminder of their years at PDS.
